Le Programme de soutien aux personnes handicapes sengage favoriser des faons novatrices de donner aux personnes en situation de handicap les moyens de poursuivre leur vision dune vie panouie. Nous sommes en train de mettre en uvre des pratiques exemplaires internationales qui respectent les droits de la personne et le choix afin damliorer la faon dont les gens interagissent avec leurs communauts. Nous envisageons la Nouvelle-cosse comme un endroit o les personnes en situation de handicap peuvent choisir la vie quelles souhaitent vivre dans des communauts accueillantes inclusives et solidaires. Une vie o les personnes peuvent tablir des relations authentiques explorer leurs intrts et raliser leur plein potentiel en tant que membres prcieux de la population au sein de leur communaut.
Nous sommes la recherche de personnes passionnes et axes sur la communaut pour se joindre nous en tant que coordonnateur ou coordonnatrice de secteur local (CSL) un rle central nouvellement cr au cur de notre mission de mener des mesures correctives la suite des constatations de discrimination systmique lchelle locale.
Le Nova Scotia Human Rights Remedy (mesures correctives la suite des constatations de discrimination systmique de la Nouvelle-cosse) est une initiative transformatrice de cinqans qui vise lutter contre la discrimination systmique lgard des personnes en situation de handicap dans la province. En tant que CSL vous travaillerez aux cts des personnes en situation de handicap de leurs familles et des rseaux de soutien aidant tablir des liens solides et inclusifs avec les communauts locales les services traditionnels et les partenaires cliniques. Votre rle consistera crer des relations de confiance qui ouvrent la possibilit aux personnes en situation de handicap de vivre une vie pleine et significative dans des communauts accueillantes et inclusives. Les CSL seront visibles et actifs dans les communauts les aidant accrotre leur inclusion et leur rsilience grce des liens communautaires continus et la promotion de la collaboration.
Vous aiderez les personnes en situation de handicap et les membres de leurs rseaux de soutien crer et mettre en uvre des stratgies qui reprsentent leurs forces leurs besoins et leurs objectifs uniques. En coutant et en comprenant vraiment ce qui compte le plus pour chaque personne vous aiderez renforcer sa confiance sa rsilience et son lien avec la communaut. Ce rle consiste marcher aux cts des personnes avec empathie et attention en utilisant une approche fonde sur les droits et en tant conscient des rpercussions des traumatismes tout en offrant un soutien et une coordination rflchis et personnaliss.
En comprenant et en vous adaptant au style de communication de chaque personne vous crerez des espaces srs o les personnes peuvent sexprimer et prendre des dcisions claires sur leur avenir. Vous naviguerez dans un environnement qui nest pas fond sur des rgles mais ax sur les rsultats en veillant ce que les services fournis soient toujours participatifs et favorables.
En tant que CSL vous ferez partie dun changement transformateur en Nouvelle-cosse: aider donner vie aux mesures correctives la suite des constatations de discrimination systmique en aidant les personnes en situation de handicap vivre pleinement et de faon autonome dans des communauts accueillantes. Vous travaillerez de manire intgre centre sur la personne et inclusive en tablissant des relations avec les personnes les familles les services et les organismes locaux. En faisant part de vos connaissances et en sensibilisant les personnes vous contribuerez renforcer les communauts et crer plus doccasions de tisser des liens dappartenance.
Dans votre travail quotidien vous travaillerez aux cts des personnes qui planifient la vie quelles souhaitent en les accompagnant dans les occasions et en les aidant crer des rseaux de soutien solides et durables. Vous militerez galement pour laccs aux services et amliorerez les liens avec les soutiens communautaires.
Les CSL travaillent en collaboration tablissant des partenariats durables amliorant les rseaux de soutien naturels et travaillant en troite collaboration avec leurs collgues du carrefour rgional pour soutenir les personnes en situation de handicap. Dans tout ce que vous faites vous ferez la promotion des valeurs de la planification gre par la personne de la prise de dcision favorable et des principes de la Convention relative aux droits des personnes handicapes des Nations Unies.
Par-dessus tout vous contribuerez favoriser une culture respectueuse et inclusive tout en tablissant des relations positives avec les personnes en situation de handicap les familles les fournisseurs de services et la communaut no-cossaise en gnral.
Un baccalaurat en travail social en services sociaux en dveloppement communautaire ou dans un autre domaine connexe et deux(2)ans dexprience dans un rle pertinent de soutien aux personnes en situation de handicap de dveloppement communautaire ou des services sociaux. Une combinaison quivalente de formation et dexprience sera considre.
Vous devez avoir des liens solides au sein de la communaut locale ou dmontrer votre capacit tablir rapidement des relations et des partenariats au sein de la communaut. Un permis de conduire valide et laccs un moyen de transport fiable sont requis (en tant quemployeur inclusif nous nous engageons envisager des mesures dadaptation conformment la Loi sur les droits de la personne). La personne qui sera slectionne pour le poste de CSL se rendra divers endroits dans sa rgion et sera prsente dans les collectivits locales. Le rle consiste conduire entrer dans des rsidences prives et occasionnellement soulever des charges. Des dplacements sont requis dans toute la rgion dans des conditions mtorologiques variables.
Ce rle exerce une pression mentale considrable sur la personne ce qui exige une grande rsilience personnelle pour rpondre aux exigences motionnelles. Vous naviguerez dans des situations complexes travaillant aux cts de personnes dans des moments de leur vie forte charge motionnelle ou stressants. Were seeking passionate and community-driven individuals to join us as Local Area Coordinators (LACs) a newly created and pivotal role at the heart of our mission to deliver meaningful action towards the Human Rights Remedy at the local level.
TheNova Scotia Human Rights Remedyis a transformative five-year initiative that is aimed at addressing systemic discrimination against people with disabilities in the province. As a Local Area Coordinator youll work alongside people with disabilities their families and support networks helping to build strong inclusive connections with local communities mainstream services and clinical partners. Your role will focus on creating trusting relationships that open opportunities for people with disabilities to live full meaningful lives in welcoming and inclusive communities. LACs will be visible and active in communities supporting them to grow in inclusion and resilience through ongoing community connection and fostering collaboration.
Youll support people with disabilities and those in their support networks to create and carry out strategies that reflect their unique strengths needs and goals. By truly listening and understanding what matters most to each person youll help build their confidence resilience and connection to community. This role is all about walking alongside people with empathy and care using a rights-based approach and being mindful of the impacts of trauma while offering thoughtful tailored support and coordination.
Understanding and adapting to everyones communication style you will create safe spaces where individuals can express themselves and make informed decisions about their future. You will navigate an environment that is not rules-based but outcome-driven ensuring that the services provided are consistently engaging and supportive.
As a LAC youll be part of a transformative shift in Nova Scotia - helping bring the Human Rights Remedy to life by supporting people with disabilities to live full self-directed lives in welcoming communities. Youll work in a way thats integrated person-centered and inclusive building relationships with individuals families services and local organizations. By sharing knowledge and raising awareness youll help strengthen communities and create more opportunities for connection and belonging.
In your day-to-day work youll work alongside individuals as they plan for the life they want coaching them through opportunities and supporting them in building strong lasting support networks. Youll also advocate for access to services and enhance connections to community supports.
Local Area Coordinators work collaboratively developing sustainable partnerships enhancing natural support networks and working closely with their Regional Hub colleagues to support individuals with disabilities. Through everything you do youll promote the values of person-directed planning supportive decision-making and the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
Above all youll help foster a respectful and inclusive culture while building positive relationships with people with disabilities families service providers and the wider Nova Scotian community.
A completed Bachelors degree in Social Work Human Services Community Development or other related field and two (2) years of experience in a relevant role supporting individuals with disabilities community development or social services. An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered.
You must have strong existing connections within the local community or demonstrate an ability to quickly build relationships and partnerships within the community. The LAC will travel to various locations in their regional area having a presence in local communities. The role involves driving entering private residences and occasional lifting. Travel is required throughout the region under varying weather conditions.

You will navigate complex situations working alongside individuals through potentially emotional or stressful times in their lives.
