80% - Contract Review:- Review and analyze agreements including those for business services fee-for-services events/hotels and data use as well as master service agreements and statements of work to identify legal or compliance issues.
- Ensure contract terms comply with Uniform Guidance and KUCR procurement policies. Identify and flag problematic provisions (e.g. indemnification insurance governing law intellectual property data security and confidentiality clauses).
- Provide summaries and issue-spotting memos to support negotiation and/or further processing of the contract
- Draft recommended revisions and redlines for contract language under supervision or using pre-approved templates.
- Coordinate with university legal counsel or KU procurement when appropriate.
- Maintain organized records of contract reviews and correspondence
10% - Data Management and quality control:- Perform quality assurance work on contract tracking spreadsheets to ensure dates and statuses are complete accurate and up to date on all contracts.
- Review exiting contract files for completeness
10% - Support Fiscal Affairs team; other duties as assigned- Provide administrative or data management support to other functions within the Fiscal Services team in the Office of Research as needed
- Special projects as assigned

Position OverviewThe University of Kansas Office of Research is seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Contract Review Intern to assist with the review analysis and drafting of various contractual agreements. The Intern will work closely with research administrators legal counsel and university departments to ensure that agreements comply with institutional policies and legal standards.

Position RequirementsDuring the semester term of the appointment the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
Employment Conditions(1) Student employees are
