You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Director of Grants is responsible for researching writing and managing grants in support of the mission of Lutheran Services Carolinas and its affiliated addition this position manages a variety of related functions such as the approval process for all temporarily restricted funds charitable licensing and programmatic wish lists.
Must reside in North Carolina. South Carolina may be acceptable.
Essential Functions:
The Director of Grants is responsible for pursuing and managing grants from foundations corporations federations church endowments and other potential sources of grant funding and managing the temporarily restricted funds process. Specifically the Director of Grants will:
1. Be familiar with foundation directories and websites and actively seek out information on potential funding sources.
2. Research grant opportunities to identify appropriate matches with LSC needs projects and priorities.
3. Seek out and manage relationships with potential funders.
4. In consultation with the Chief Development Officer and other staff as appropriate determine the priority and timing of proposals to be pursued.
5. Work with LSC program staff to identify needs project plans and desired outcomes for proposals.
6. Write compelling proposals that are clear accurate and complete; secure needed attachments and signatures; and submit proposals in a timely manner.
7. Be aware of all pending proposals and deadlines and maintain files to support easy access by appropriate staff to current and past submissions responses and reports.
8. Liaison with program and finance staff to gather needed information to ensure compliance with interim and final reporting requirements and grant agreements.
9. Manage the approval process for temporarily restricted funds by working closely with administrators/program directors and finance staff and by serving on restricted funds committees as appropriate.
10. Research prepare and maintain state solicitation licenses as appropriate.
11. Manage programmatic wish lists external workplace campaign applications and external LSC granting programs.
12. Perform other development public relations and church relations functions as assigned by the Chief Development Officer.
Education: College graduate
Experience: Demonstrated project management experience
Specific skills/abilities: Demonstrated writing skills; including strong proofreading skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word Excel PowerPoint). Ability to act independently to represent LSC with potential funders. Familiarity and understanding of complex budgets. Proven ability to research and understand complex clinical and programmatic issues and to interpret them for less experienced readers.
Preferences:
- Two or more years of related experience.
- Demonstrated successful grant writing experience
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Willingness to travel as needed to meet with potential funding sources or programmatic staff.
- Ambulatory throughout all locations.
- Sitting at a desk and in front of computer for extended periods of time.
Position Status and Expense Designation:
This Position is a REMOTE status and requires an appropriate work area off-site to effectively complete job duties. An effective work area is a dedicated area for computer work and electronic communications without interruptions from a typical home environment and will be the base work area. REMOTE status requires travel as needed to the LSC Administrative office LSC communities meetings conferences or training and mileage may be charged for these trips. REMOTE status teammate schedules should meet the needs of the areas outlined in this job description. The supervisor may schedule certain tasks to be completed specifically remote or in-person at the LSC office or any LSC community.
