The New York City Mayors Office is responsible for overseeing city services throughout the five boroughs coordinating public agencies and departments and managing public property. New York City Mayor Eric Adams is head of the executive branch of New York Citys government. Previously Mayor Adams has served the people of New York City as an NYPD officer state senator and Brooklyn borough president. The Team Youll Work With
The Mayors Community Affairs Unit (CAU) is the fundamental connection between City Hall and New York City residents throughout the five boroughs. The primary mission of CAU is to establish deep partnerships with communities in order to engage and mobilize New Yorkers. To this end CAU is directly responsible for integrating government into communities by working with mayoral agencies to ensure the effective and efficient deployment of government services and the Mayors top policy priorities and initiatives.
The Problems Youll Solve
-Borough Directors serve as the direct link between the community and the Mayor and his city agencies. They represent the Mayor in their respective borough.
-In the position of Borough Director they will be responsible for maintaining key relationships in the borough attending relevant civic community board and community meetings and representing the Mayor at events such as parades and fairs.
-The Borough Director is responsible for staffing the Mayor at local events following up on stakeholder complaints and correspondence and maintaining lists of issues and prominent community leaders.
-In emergency situations the Borough Director is on the scene to represent the Mayors Office. Emergency situations include but are not limited to blackouts tragic deaths high-profile crimes fires where citizens are impacted and water main breaks or street collapses where citizens are evacuated from their homes.
-The Borough Director seeks to aid in the delivery of services to their community and actively looks to attend civic meetings and events each month in addition to getting involved in task forces or creating new task forces as the need arises.

Qualifications :
-You have a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience in community work or community-centered activities in an area related to duties.
-You have experience working with government entities or in community outreach roles preferably within New York City.
-You have demonstrated the ability to navigate complex community issues and advocate effectively for diverse populations.
-You have strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects concurrently.
