A leading transport and logistics company is looking for an experienced Fleet Manager with strong expertise in fleet operations vehicle maintenance compliance and staff supervision to join their team in Parow Cape Town. The role involves managing commercial passenger and goods vehicles ensuring operational efficiency safety compliance and cost control while overseeing maintenance scheduling and fleet administration.
Responsibilities:
Oversee coordinate and facilitate transport-related activities for light and heavy vehicle fleets including commercial passenger vehicles and equipment such as generators and warehouse handling equipment.
Ensure all vehicles are licensed insured and compliant with legal and safety requirements.
Prepare and manage annual budgets fleet performance reports and operational cost analyses.
Supervise workshop cleaning and scheduling staff ensuring adherence to policies and performance standards.
Coordinate maintenance repairs and servicing of vehicles to minimize downtime.
Monitor fuel consumption mileage servicing and repair expenses.
Manage insurance claims and accident reporting processes.
Maintain stock control of parts tools and cleaning chemicals.
Dispose of chemical waste and obsolete vehicles in accordance with legal requirements.
Conduct driver training inductions and health and safety briefings.
Liaise with suppliers customers and internal departments to resolve fleet-related issues.
Hold regular meetings with workshop and operational staff to address performance compliance and operational needs.
Requirements:
Minimum 5 years proven management experience in a similar fleet operations role.
Strong knowledge of mechanical electrical and bodywork aspects of buses and heavy vehicles.
Proficiency in fleet management systems and Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook) and Pastel.
Valid Code 10 or 14 drivers license with PDP.
Strong leadership organisational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage emergencies make decisions under pressure and ensure environmental compliance.
Physically capable of performing the duties required including standing walking climbing and lifting.
