Job Description

Position Summary


The Industry Affairs Manager is responsible for providing oversight program management and critical strategic direction to USSECs global industry affairs focused on membership programs and market access.


Essential Functions Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development and implementation of the USSEC Global Market Access program and provides international offices with the appropriate resources to support regional and country-wide trade policy and market access initiatives.
  • Cultivates and preserves QSSB investor relationships with USSEC via effective outreach project management and solicitation of funds.
  • Develops and communicates with stakeholders regarding USSEC programming and market access issues that are beneficial to their respective organizations provides continuous interaction to determine stakeholder priorities and identifies opportunities for member participation or sponsorship in USSEC programs.
  • Works with domestic and international team members on issues related to pesticide maximum residue levels biotechnology plant breeding innovation and other tariff/non-tariff related measures.
  • Serves as the USSEC representative to committees or coalitions to advance USSEC positions.
  • Sustains and expands USSEC membership by interaction with potential new members addresses and resolves retention issues and develops new membership segments.
  • Directs development and management of industry affairs programs via implementation and justification of efforts and activities pursuant to metrics.
  • Organizes member strategy sessions and Soy Connext in furtherance of USSECs critical organizational goals and plans ensures priority objectives for the sessions are met and accurately measures the outcomes of each session.
  • Prepares documentation to develop the annual industry affairs MAIC and Soy Connext budgets.
  • Participates and/or manages various internal and external committees.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work successfully with domestic and international members stakeholders and team members.
  • Proven ability in developing productive initiatives and programs to resolve export barriers for agricultural crops.
  • Ability to effectively research develop and evaluate market plans and/or related studies.
  • Clear and concise written and oral communication skills to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders domestically and internationally.
  • Ability to ethically and professionally cultivate and navigate relationships in furtherance of USSECs strategic membership plan and goals.
  • Ability to engage in effective and organized collaboration development and strategic analysis to create and implement relevant informative productive industry affairs programs.
  • Ability to work independently and across international time zones.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite.


Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Business Marketing International Business or related field.
  • 5-7 years of job-related experience.
  • Working knowledge of the agricultural industry a plus.
  • Previous experience in expanding non-profit membership programs a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Light sedentary office work.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally 30-40% of the time.
