Job Description

TITLE: Students in Transition Support Clerk

LOCATION:Administrative Service Center

REPORTS TO: Director School Improvement & Accountability / Director Student Equity & Family Engagement

DEPARTMENT:School Improvement & Accountability

Hours / Work Times

8.0 Hours Per Day (7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. includes 30 minute unpaid lunch)

Monday - Friday

205 Days Per Year (August - June)

Position is contigent on continued grant funding.

Position Duration: Permanent

Salary Placement: New employees will start at the minimum hourly rate in the classification salary range. However employees who have verified prior years of service of similar occupational experience may receive experience credit towards salary step placement.

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Under the supervision of the Director School Improvement & Accountability the Students in Transition Support Clerk will assist/support the Heart Liaison for McKinney-Vento and Foster Care by performing a variety of clerical duties and tasks related to the day-to-day operations of the department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Communicate effectively with staff and the general public in person by telephone via email and in writing.
  2. Compile record maintain file duplicate track and distribute various reports and data as needed.
  3. Operate a computer.
  4. Set up meetings as required.
  5. Assist the Heart Liaison for McKinney-Vento and Foster Care.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Perform other related duties as assigned.
  2. May travel from location to location in order to perform tasks.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT NECESSARY:

Computer/Laptop telephone copy machines FAX and all other tools and equipment necessary to perform the essential functions as listed above.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

(Testing may be required).

  1. Light typing/keyboarding.
  2. Two years of experience in a related field or equivalent training.
  3. Demonstrated ability to operate the computer.
  4. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and possess a positive attitude.
  5. Demonstrated ability to operate the office equipment listed in the tools and equipment area above.
  6. Demonstrated ability to perform tasks accurately and in accordance with established guidelines.
  7. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities at one time.
  8. Demonstrated ability to assist parents in stressful situations.
  9. Must have the ability to travel from location to location to perform tasks.
  10. Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to follow through.
  11. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  12. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with others as part of a team.
