Job Description
Fahrenheit Advisors is assisting Kirbor Homes in their search for a Construction Estimating Specialist to support their growing semi-custom home building business. The Construction Estimating Specialist is responsible for producing accurate project estimates and costing data and works closely with the management team as well as vendors and trades. Our ideal candidate is self-motivated deadline-driven and a team player.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate and timely estimated job costs for all plan types.
- Create complete and accurate material labor and/or lump-sum take-offs for each project for both construction and trades.
- Read and interpret architectural plans to develop cost estimates.
- Review the accuracy of architectural plans plan take-offs and pricing.
- Research estimate-related variances and make necessary corrections in ITK Mark Systems.
- Identify and recommend value engineering opportunities during the estimating process.
- Select manage and negotiate contracts and pricing with subcontractors and vendors.
- Input collected data into ITK Mark systems and maintain related spreadsheets databases and reports.
- Help develop and implement policies and procedures within the Purchasing and Estimating Department using the PO/VPO system.
Requirements:
- Associates or B.S. in Construction preferred. Three years of specific construction estimating experience may substitute for formal education.
- Strong understanding of the residential construction process with working knowledge of framing drywall painting electrical wiring and plumbing.
- Knowledge of structural standards and moderate understanding of drafting design and contract management and the ability to read blueprints
- Proficient in construction-based estimating software (e.g. ITK Mark Systems PlanSwift) and Excel.
- Ability to produce and maintain accurate estimates and detailed take-offs for all company plans.
- Timely preparation of pricing requests with take-offs and cost elements for internal stakeholders (Sales Marketing Leadership).
- Meet accuracy goals: Overall estimates within 1% and individual categories within 3% over/under actual cost.
- Excellent analytical skills attention to detail time management and multitasking ability.
This role is primarily remote but the employee must be in the Richmond Williamsburg or Virginia Beach areas to attend in-person meetings as needed.
