Job Description

Job Profile Summary

The Senior Accessibility Analyst is responsible for performing comprehensive accessibility audits and user experience testing of student-facing content to ensure compliance with WCAG 2.2 AA standards. This role requires advanced expertise in digital accessibility strong leadership capabilities and the ability to guide remediation strategies in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external vendors. The position includes communicating audit results assisting with team management tasks and ensuring the accessibility and consistency of student-facing documents. Contributes to the development of team documentation and training materials. This role involves working both independently and collaboratively across teams and functions.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Leads in-depth accessibility audits and evaluations of websites documents videos and other digital content.
  • Reviews vendor-created content against accessibility acceptance criteria and provide actionable remediation strategies.
  • Develops and implements remediation plans for third-party products and platforms.
  • Provides expert-level guidance on complex accessibility issues and industry best practices.
  • Ensures course documents meet accessibility standards and validate the quality of remediation performed by team members.
  • Develops and documents team processes and procedures; assist in the creation and delivery of training programs for new team members.
  • Mentors and reviews the work of Associate Accessibility Analysts and Accessibility Analysts.
  • Prepares and communicates evaluation reports to WGU stakeholders and external vendors.
  • Stays informed on updates to WCAG guidelines assistive technologies and emerging accessibility trends.
  • Collaborates with internal colleagues and external vendors to resolve complex accessibility challenges.
  • Networks with accessibility professionals to remain current with industry innovations and practices.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Expertise in evaluating and remediating accessibility for Microsoft Office documents (Word PDF PowerPoint Excel).
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting HTML CSS and JavaScript and explaining accessibility best practices clearly.
  • Advanced knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA standards and accessibility best practices
  • Deep understanding of how individuals with various disabilities interact with digital environments and how to design inclusive accessible user experiences.
  • Ability to lead team projects and mentor junior team members on accessibility standards and techniques.
  • Expertise in conducting accessibility-related research and staying current on WCAG guidelines tools and assistive technologies.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts in simple actionable terms for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively while managing multiple high-priority projects and meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated systems-thinking approach to identifying and solving accessibility challenges and improving processes.
  • Skilled at advocating for accessibility and influencing policy and practice adoption across internal and external teams.
  • Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams vendors and leadership to drive accessibility strategy.
  • Proficient in interpreting and applying technical documentation such as WCAG 2.2 AA Section 508 and VPATs.
  • Demonstrates WGU leadership principles in all professional interactions including coaching and guiding less experienced staff.

Education

  • Bachelors degree in a related field (e.g. Technology Accessibility Human-Computer Interaction) or equivalent work experience.

Experience

  • Five (5) years of professional experience in a related field (e.g. accessibility instructional design user experience or web development) with a bachelors degree or 3 years of experience with a masters degree.
  • Three (3) years of experience with HTML CSS and JavaScript.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience in an accessibility-focused team.
  • Proven experience conducting complex accessibility audits leading remediation planning and collaborating with vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC).
  • DHS Trusted Tester Certification.
  • Completed or in-progress toward another IAAP Certification (e.g. WAS ADS CPABE).

Experience in lieu of education

Equivalent relevant experience performing the essential functions of this job may substitute for education degree requirements. Generally equivalent relevant experience is defined as 1 year of experience for 1 year of education and is the discretion of the hiring manager.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with web accessibility tools (e.g. WAVE Axe).
  • Mastery of assistive technologies and screen readers (e.g. NVDA JAWS).
  • Strong understanding of higher education environments and digital accessibility needs.
  • Familiarity with the latest technology tools and trends in web accessibility.
  • Experience supporting accessibility in distance education settings.
  • Familiarity with VPAT creation or review.
  • Experience mentoring or training others in accessibility concepts and tools.

Position & Application Details
