You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Chief Operating Officer (COO) Airports is responsible for the strategic and operational oversight of all airport operational functions ensuring seamless safe and efficient airport services in alignment with international standards. The COO drives operational excellence cost optimization passenger experience enhancement and regulatory compliance across airport facilities and services. This critical leadership role supports the CEOs vision by translating strategy into actionable operational plans and sustaining high performance across the entire airport value chain.
Ensure strict compliance with aviation safety regulations (ICAO FAA EASA local CAA) and security protocols (TSA ICAO Annex 17).
Develop maintain and test emergency response plans addressing aircraft incidents security threats and natural disasters.
Maintain and improve the airports Safety Management System (SMS) and Security Management System (SeMS).
Conduct regular risk assessments audits and drills to comply with regulatory bodies.
Coordinate security and emergency preparedness efforts with government agencies (TSA CBP police fire services).
Optimize passenger flow efficiency throughout check-in security screening boarding and baggage claim processes.
Monitor and enforce service level agreements (SLAs) with airlines concessionaires and ground handling operators.
Handle customer complaints proactively and implement improvements informed by feedback (ACI/ASQ surveys).
Oversee maintenance and operational integrity of airport facilities including runways terminals parking and utilities.
Manage capital improvement projects including expansions renovations and technology upgrades.
Lead sustainability initiatives focused on energy efficiency waste management and carbon footprint reduction.
Liaise effectively with airlines air traffic control (ATC) customs and immigration authorities.
Collaborate with retailers food & beverage operators and parking management to boost commercial performance.
Represent the airport at industry forums regulatory meetings and during crisis communications.
Masters degree or MBA in Aviation Management Engineering Operations Infrastructure Finance Strategic Management or a related field preferred.
Certifications in ICAO/FAA Aviation Safety and Security preferred.
Lean Six Sigma certification is an advantage.
Minimum 20 years of professional experience with at least 15 years in senior management or leadership roles.
Minimum 5 years experience in the GCC region is a plus.
In-depth understanding of airport operational workflows safety protocols and passenger service standards.
Strong expertise in systems implementation and operational analytics with familiarity in SAP AODB FIDS and BHS.
Proven track record in cost optimization vendor and service provider management and team leadership.
Familiarity with international regulatory frameworks (ICAO IATA) and regional compliance standards.
ERP knowledge preferably SAP functional skills is required.
