Job Description
Introduction
A well-established construction company is looking for an experienced Estimating Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Cape Town. This is a key role focused on the pre-construction and tendering phase of building projects requiring strong analytical skills attention to detail and extensive knowledge of construction costs and procurement.
Minimum Requirements:
- 10 years experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a strong focus on estimating and tendering.
- Proven experience working on building projects (commercial residential mixed-use etc.).
- In-depth knowledge of construction methods materials and pricing.
- Strong understanding of contractual and procurement processes.
- Proficient in industry-standard estimating and measurement software.
- Excellent numerical analytical and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate cost estimates and bills of quantities for building tenders.
- Analyse drawings specifications and other documentation to prepare comprehensive estimates.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Work closely with the pre-construction and project management teams to finalise tender submissions.
- Identify cost risks and opportunities to improve project profitability.
- Maintain an up-to-date database of material and labour costs.
