Job Summary

RPOs client is actively seeking a qualified Health and Safety Officer to join their team in Epping Cape Town. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented professional to join a thriving metal recycling group. This is a full-time onsite position with a competitive benefits package.

Responsibilities:

Drive compliance with health and safety regulations and internal policies
Facilitate safety inductions and ongoing training programs
Keep management informed of health and safety legislation and updates
Develop safety procedures and emergency response protocols
Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits
Perform risk assessments and implement corrective actions
Investigate accidents incidents and near misses
Submit reports to management and external stakeholders as required
Liaise with regulatory authorities (e.g. Department of Employment and Labour)
Monitor and enforce contractor safety compliance
Assist in maintaining ISO 14001 & 9001 systems

Requirements:

Grade 12 or equivalent
National Diploma in Safety/Environmental Management or similar
SHEMTRAC SAMTRAC or NEBOSH IGC certification
35 years experience in health and safety in an industrial environment
Strong knowledge of the OHS Act & Regulations
Practical ISO 14001 & 9001 experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Valid drivers license and own reliable transport
Registration with SAIOSH or SACPCMP (advantageous)
