Job Description

As our Scheduler Projects your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Ensure alignment with the Group Scheduling Standards for each phase (definition of what is required from a basis of estimate perspective).
  • Ensure alignment with other key elements/parties of the project e.g. engineering procurement construction commissioning project economics estimation and cost engineering.
  • Prepare the basis of the schedule for each stage of the project.
  • Provide/validate benchmarks of durations.
  • Coordinate with all relevant project team members and stakeholders to define schedule requirements (accuracy sequencing and level of activity decomposition).
  • Apply critical path and critical chain methods to the schedule.
  • Assess risks to the critical path(s) and develop treatment actions including contingency to provide required confidence levels.
  • Progress tracking and trending by application of Earned Value principles (onsite).
  • Establish required interfacing (human and technical) to ensure alignment of all contractor schedules with the Master Schedule.
  • Identify and communicate any schedule conflicts resource constraints time constraints etc to the (Senior) Project Manager.
  • Early identification of variance.
  • Analysis and interpretation of root cause(s).
  • Thoroughly review options to remedy the cause and recover.
  • Effect change/s through a formal change process.
  • Forecast impact and adjust the schedule based on confidence in remedial and recovery actions.
  • QA of the data collection process (onsite).
  • Effective (audiencefocused) communication of critical messages.

This role is in SIB Projects (SIB) NC on a band 6.10 level reporting to the Manager Project Services


Qualifications :

  • Grade 12
  • National Diploma (NQF6) in Project Management / Planning
  • SA Drivers License

Technical Knowledge

  • Understanding of projects in mining environment with a strong focus on scheduling processes and integration with project planning.
  • Expertise in key value drivers across the mining and processing projects value chain and their interdependencies ensuring efficient scheduling and resource allocation.
  • Proficiency in project scheduling software (MS Project Primavera P6) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word PowerPoint Outlook).
  • Knowledge of the mining industry including compliance with legislation such as the Mine Health and Safety Act and operational best practices.
  • Ability to apply financial principles including cost control value management budgeting tools and Earned Value Management (EVM) for project scheduling and monitoring.
  • Strong understanding of project environments including risk assessment stakeholder management and procurement processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to use PM tools and computerbased scheduling systems for detailed project tracking forecasting and reporting.
