Job Description

The Old Mutual Group Strategy Sustainability People Public Affairs segment is a Group Function strategy aiming to unlock and enable key capabilities within the Old Mutual Limited Group. It aims to build a customercentric agile business with an innovative culture integrating our responsible business philosophy into everything we do. This role presents an exciting opportunity to support the Director of Old Mutual Group Strategy Sustainability People Public Affairs as an Executive Associate. This role requires a flexible selfdriven person comfortable with ambiguity and with a very strong cando attitude. A high level of integrity maturity and confidentiality is required.

This opportunity provides a 1824 month learning opportunity and falls within the bandwidth of the middle management category. Following the period as Executive Associate you will be well positioned to move into a role within the Old Mutual Group and will be supported in doing so subject to acceptable performance.

Key Result Areas

Administration and Support

  • Build and acquire a solid understanding of annual business planning and delivery cycles including processes and outputs and proactively coordinate for the Director
  • Coordinating the Exco and Board Committees reporting cycle and process
  • Synthesize key information and draft points of view and solutions for the Director to aide in decisionmaking.
  • Ensures that the Director is equipped with necessary documentation to proceed with meetings.
  • Coordinating resources to gather information for the first draft of various reports/ presentations
  • Performs administrative duties for the Director including presentations minutes and other tasks.
  • Responsible for ensuring relevant matters are included on Board and Exco agendas
  • Responsible to investigate and research various adhoc business issues strategic initiatives and new developments.
  • Required to investigate and respond to various client and stakeholder requests
  • Represents the Director on certain ad hoc projects meetings and events as required.

Relationship Building

  • Builds and maintains relationships with executives and senior management as well as key individuals in a wide range of business units across the segment.
  • High level of contact with stakeholders and clients are required
  • Solid interpersonal skills showing an ability to work through influence and to be able to interact at all levels and facilitate the delivery of decisions.

Communication and Engagement

  • Prepares reports and presentations for the Director.
  • Leads the project management of key events on behalf of the Director.
  • Communicating and escalating important issues appropriately.

Requirements: Skills Qualifications and Experience required

  • Post graduate qualification Actuary.
  • 35 years relevant experience preferably in a listed or multinational corporate environment
  • Proficiency in MS office to include Word Excel PowerPoint & Outlook
  • A keen interest in the financial services
  • Experience in working with senior level clients
  • Ability to manage complex and highly confidential information
  • Numerate with the ability to present and analyse data
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Excellent command of the English language both in communication ability and in drafting skills
  • Excellent social skills able to operate with diplomacy tact and empathy
  • A high degree of personal organisation and selfmanagement.
  • Comfortable delivering within tight deadlines which are liable to change at short notice.
