Job Description

The Head of Risk will be responsible for identifying assessing monitoring and mitigating the Companys risks particularly those arising from its trading operational and regulatory activities. This role is critical to ensuring that the Companys OTC derivatives and broader financial services operations are conducted within an effective risk management framework aligned with regulatory requirements.

Regulatory Compliance & Governance:

    • Ensure the risk management framework complies with FSCA and FMA regulatory requirements.
    • Maintain risk policies and procedures aligned to local and group governance frameworks.
    • Report material risks and mitigation plans to the Board of Directors and relevant committees.

Risk Identification & Mitigation:

    • Oversee identification and monitoring of key risk exposures including market credit liquidity and operational risk.
    • Establish and monitor risk limits thresholds and escalation procedures.
    • Lead stress testing and scenario analysis activities.

Reporting & Internal Controls:

    • Maintain timely and accurate risk reports for executive management and the Board of Directors.
    • Coordinate internal risk reviews and contribute to audit processes.

Leadership & Internal Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with Compliance Operations and IT teams to embed risk awareness and controls.
    • Provide guidance to business units on new product risk assessments and mitigation.
    • Lead and mentor the risk function team.

Requirements:

    • Bachelors degree in Finance Economics Quantitative Finance Risk Management or related field (relevant postgraduate qualification will be considered an advantage).
    • Minimum of 5 years experience in a risk leadership role in the financial services industry preferably within the derivatives or investment spacepreferably with exposure to products such as Securities OTC derivatives (such as CFDs) and Knockout Options.
    • Demonstrated expertise in OTC derivatives and financial market risk management.
    • Proven ability to implement quantitative risk assessment and valuation frameworks.
    • Strong understanding of the FAIS Act Financial Markets Act and associated FSCA and FMA regulations.
    • Familiarity with regulatory risk standards stress testing and capital adequacy models.
    • Experience in retail investments trading and/or retail financial services.
    • Strong analytical problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
    • Strong leadership and mentoring ability.
    • Capable of handling complex and non-routine compliance challenges.
    • High ethical standards and commitment to integrity and transparency.
    • Resilient under pressure and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
    • Must meet FSCA Fit and Proper requirements.
