Job Description
United Exports is looking for a Quality Assurance Officer to join our team at Bass Diii Berries. The primary purpose of this role is to ensure optimum product quality and delivering on our brand promise by means of ensuring United Exports Quality standards are implemented and adhered to at farm level through continuous and strict monitoring of processes.
- Monitor each harvest team according to but not limited to the following points:
- Correct quality and/or maturity is being harvested
- All harvest rules are being followed
- All hygiene rules are being followed
- Monitor the cold chain and fruit handling process at the cold stores daily according to but not limited to the following points.
- Check the cold store temperatures are running at the correct set point (3 times per day)
- Check the fruit pulp temperatures are according to specification at the time of truck loading
- Cold chain is to be maintained optimally for each pallet all the time
- All hygiene rules are followed
- Monitor all quality control processes on farm are being done according to protocol and verify the quality data
- Monitor all hygiene procedures are adhered to and hygiene equipment are intact and in good condition
- Daily reporting on all the above to senior management.
Requirements
Education / Experience:
- Senior certificate / grade 12 / Matric.
- Suitable tertiary qualification Degree/diploma in Food Science Food Technology.

- Computer literacy: MS Office (Excel Word PowerPoint Outlook)
- Valid drivers license (preferred)
- Excellent communication skills; verbal and written.
- Building and maintaining good interpersonal relationships.
- Detailed and results orientated.
- Confident.
- Ability to act with tact and discretion.
- Ability to function independently.
