Purpose of Role
The Head Coach is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of our NCAA Division II womens basketball program including recruiting coaching player development and administrative duties all while adhering to NCAA and East Coast Conference regulations and fostering a positive environment for student athletes; contributes to the educational mission of the University by offering education direction and instruction in the area of womens basketball.
About This Opportunity
Joining our Athletics team the Head Coach - Womens Basketball will be responsible for the following:
- Provide leadership organization and supervision for all team practices and competitions.
- Oversee and evaluate assistant coaches student assistants graduate assistant coaches and volunteers in conjunction with the sport supervisor.
- Organize and implement a successful recruiting program that attracts academically and athletically gifted prospects with a strong commitment to retention degree completion and academic success.
- Manage and award athletic scholarship funds in coordination with the vice president for athletics and the director of NCAA compliance adhering to university conference and NCAA guidelines.
- Conduct all aspects of the program in accordance with NCAA and conference rules university policies and the departments policy manual.
- Promote an atmosphere of sportsmanship professionalism and respect among coaches and student-athletes.
- Prioritize student-athlete safety and welfare in all aspects of the program.
- Manage team operations within the parameters of the annual budget and review all budget requests and fiscal needs.
- Schedule team travel practices and competitions in accordance with university policies conference guidelines and NCAA bylaws.
- Monitor and review student-athlete eligibility to ensure full compliance with governing rules and regulations.
- Maintain positive and constructive relationships with university departments including Admissions Advancement Business Office and Student Affairs.
- Participate in fundraising activities for the program in collaboration with the vice president for athletics.
- Represent the university at professional meetings admissions events alumni gatherings campus activities athletic events and civic affairs.
- Administer an effective community outreach program involving student-athletes to benefit the campus and surrounding communities.
- Develop coordinate and oversee comprehensive camps and clinics to boost participation and engagement.
- Build and maintain relationships with alumni to promote a positive image of the program and university.
- Attend and participate in athletic department meetings and NCAA rules education sessions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor degree masters preferred in related field is required with coaching experience.
- At least one-year of coaching experience in (sport) at an NCAA Division I II III institution.
- Valid drivers license required. License must meet insurance company rules and regulations for driving underwriting criteria
- Strong interpersonal organizational written and oral communication skills.
- Evidence of and ability to articulate a strong current practical knowledge of the sport of (sport).
- Demonstrated ability to successfully coach college level student-athletes.
- Knowledge of coaching and teaching techniques and the ability to effectively use them.
- Ability to work evenings weekends and holidays when necessary.
- Ability to drive a personal or university vehicle for the purpose of college business on a regular basis and ability to travel when necessary.
- Knowledge of recruiting techniques and the ability to effectively use them.
- Current certification in or eligible for CPR AED and First Aid.

- Ability to run a practice and transport any needed equipment
