Summary of Job Duties:

*THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN Fort Smith AR*

The Education Assistant Director is responsible and will work closely on day-to-day operations with the Director of the UAMS Centers on Aging for the education programs and services provided by the Center. He/she will provide the development implementation and evaluation of education programs for the general public older adults and their families health care professionals paraprofessionals and students of the health and social service disciplines. This will also include training trainers and increasing the educational capacity of the Center on Agings assigned county region.


Qualifications:

  • RN or Social Worker; Bachelors Degree; plus five (5) years of experience in a clinical and/or educational setting long-term care and/or hospice care in the past five (5) years

  • RN or Social Worker licensure

  • Special knowledge in Geriatrics.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • RN or Social Worker licensure

  • Special knowledge in Dementia Care


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Will work with the regional and statewide leadership teams to develop the Centers strategic plan and update it as needed.

  • Attend staff meetings foundation meetings advisory committee meetings UAMS COAs meetings and other meetings as appropriate.

  • Will assist the director in the development of the budget and will oversee the budget.

  • Explore and apply for grants and will seek needed technical assistance when needed. Will seek and explore other leveraging opportunities.

  • Coordinated and leads other aspects of the Center as needed including but not limited to: marketing policy and clinical liaison educational programs and community relationships.

  • Prepares reports (including an annual report) and manages data for the Center and other duties as assigned.

  • Execute the education program component of the Center.

  • Develop and implement the various educational programs in accordance with UAMS guidelines and work with the UAMS COAs leadership group.

  • Will coordinate and collaborate with other Centers on Aging staff in the development implementation and evaluation of education programs. Is active in educating and training all target groups.

  • Provide education guidance and counseling to patient families in terms of accessing appropriate resources for the elderly throughout life transitions.

  • Provides leadership in the evaluation of the education programs and staff and serves as a resource to other staff members who provide consultation referral services resource services and training programs.

  • Provides leadership in scheduling for education and training programs.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.
