Summary of Job Duties:

The Administrative Assistant Ill is responsible for performing general office duties for the School of Journalism & Strategic Media. This position will be responsible for greeting visitors to the school and assisting students faculty instructors and graduate assistants as well as staff with various requests such as overrides curriculum support for the Associate Director. This position will be the primary for assisting the Event Coordinator with schools event planning placing food and supply orders making reservations for space and/or equipment assisting with event set-up and tear-down. This position will work with Admissions setting up and scheduling student tours and preparing student tour packages for visiting prospective students and their families. The Administrative Assistant Ill will perform daily office duties that include answering the main phone for the school and directing incoming calls to where they need to go. This position will handle the School Directors Outlook Calendar and schedule meetings. The Administrative Assistant Ill will assist with inventory and surplus of school equipment as well as furniture e-waste memory equipment etc. This position will perform other duties as assigned.

Regular reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty as it the ability to create and maintain collegial harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma

  • At least one year of experience in an office setting working with customers & technology with a focus on customer service

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using Microsoft Excel

  • Experience using the University of Arkansas software or ability to learn quickly

  • Demonstrated experience in & ability to work in a fast paced team-oriented atmosphere with the
    ability to multitask while working with little supervision

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent knowledge of English grammar and punctuation

  • Accurate and strong typing skills

  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills

  • Demonstrated strong time management skills

  • Demonstrated self-starter with the ability to have attention to detail

  • Ability to provide excellent service to office visitors

  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility when needed

  • Ability to work in a diverse environment

  • Ability to learn new software when introduced
