Job Description
Position: Interim Dean of Students Secondary Schools for the 2025-2026 School year. This is a non-union position.
Summary: The Melrose Public Schools are seeking an experienced dedicated and dynamic educator for the role of Dean of Students. The Dean will primarily work at the High School while supporting the Middle School focusing on nurturing a safe welcoming and orderly environment conducive to student learning and growth. The Dean will be assigned to work closely with certain grade levels as assigned by the Secondary Principal for the 2025-2026 school year.
Responsibilities:
- The Dean of Students will be assigned to work with certain grade levels as assigned by the Secondary Principal for the 2025-2026 school year.
- Maintain and oversee daily student attendance and class attendance records for the assigned grade level(s).
- Promote a culture of positive behavior throughout the school.
- Enforce the districts Code of Conduct ensuring consistency and fairness.
- Supervise lunch periods providing a safe and orderly environment.
- Respond promptly and effectively to classroom and teacher needs.
- Maintain open lines of communication with parents and guardians.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to support student success.
- Oversee daily student attendance and class attendance
- Promote positive behavior

- Respond to classroom and teacher needs
- Communicate effectively with parents/caregivers

Reporting Structure: The Dean of Students will directly support the Assistant Principals the Secondary Deputy Principal and the Secondary Principal; the Dean of Students will report to the Secondary Principal
Application Information: Position is open until filled.
Compensation: Commensurate with the Educators education and experience within the range of $64507.13 through $101106.71.
Work Year: 183 days-all days in which school is in session including the teacher professional development days.
