POSITION SUMMARY:
The Patient Care Tech works as an integral part of the patient care team providing routine administrative and clerical duties at and around the nursing station providing prompt and courteous service to patients families physicians staff and public alike. Helps to monitor and facilitate activities at the nursing station and performs tasks necessary to maintain proper flow of patient care and related documentation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Under the supervision of physician or nurse (RN) assists with performing patient assessments and treatments.
Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection. Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition. Documents patient care given.
Maintains equipment and medical supplies including reordering stocking cleaning and troubleshooting. Maintains examination areas.
Performs administrative or clerical duties as assigned including filing reception scheduling data entry and patient registration.
Must have experience in administrative support and or receptionist duties. Demonstrated ability to multitask in a stressful environment.
Must have basic computer proficiency ability to use a multi-line phone system.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Preferential consideration if completed the 1st semester of nursing school or certified through the Arkansas Office of Long-Term Care.
Experience: One-year experience or successful completion of 1 semester first year of nursing school curriculum or nursing assistance certification through the Arkansas Office of Long-Term Care preferred.
Certifications: BLS within 90 days of employment.
Licenses: CNA license preferred
Skills and Abilities: Requires critical thinking skills decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Must have basic computer proficiency ability to use a multi-line phone system. Performs phlebotomy tasks as needed.
