Basic Job Functions:
Administer maintain develop and troubleshoot the process supervisory systems and production network including Level 2 databases web pages supervisory models and network infrastructure. Generate intelligent solutions including artificial vision for optimization of steelmaking rolling coating and customizing processes as well as hybrid models using Artificial intelligence tools such as neural networks machine learning and cluster algorithms. Design develop program and implement physical mathematical statistical black box and gray box models for steel processes hot and cold lamination of flat products coated and annealed including pelletizing direct reduction steeling flat and long rolling etc. utilizing Open VMS C C and C# (Windows and Linux operating system). Leverage specialized education in Thermomechanical Processing of Metals and Technology of Flat Rolling to analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and establish quality and reliability objectives of finished product. Design develop program implement and fine tune control loops and motor. Perform deep analysis of failures in Programable Logic Controller (PLC) and evaluation of feasible solutions including modifications in control logic. Apply statistical methods and mathematical calculations to prepare proposals for projects or investments that include the use of smart tools or special equipment for solving quality safety or productivity problems in process lines. Developing control systems in programmable logic controller (PLC)/Human-Machine Interface (HMI) platforms including Allen-Bradley and Siemens. Administer maintain develop and troubleshoot the process supervisory systems and production network. Responsible for the software and hardware maintenance and security of these systems as well as database operations and development utilizing SQL Server and Oracle. Ability to initiate lead and uphold safety policies practices procedures and housekeeping standards at all times. Promote a safe attitude for the development and implementation of mathematical models. Support the team in making technical decisions regarding improvements to the line. Train and manage specialized technical personnel. Web report development utilizing HTML/JavaScript/ is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate lead and uphold safety policies practices procedures and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelors or foreign equivalent degree in Physics Engineering or directly related field and five (5) years of experience as an automation engineer in a greenfield hot rolling mill optimizing the steel processes and machinery. Experience must include: Developing and implementing physical-mathematical models to automate steel industry processes including pelletizing direct reduction flat and long rolling etc. utilizing Open VMS C C and C# (Windows and Linux operating system. Developing control systems in programmable logic controller (PLC)/Human-Machine Interface (HMI) platforms including Allen-Bradley and Siemens. Web report development utilizing HTML/JavaScript/PHP. Designing developing and implementing of hybrid models using Artificial intelligence tools such as neural networks machine learning and cluster algorithms. Knowledge of database operations and development utilizing SQL Server and Oracle. Specialized postsecondary coursework in Thermomechanical Processing of Metals and the Technology of Flat Rolling required.
