Job Description

An exciting opportunity exists to join the LRT Expansion and Renewal Branch as the new Valley Line LRT Integration Manager!

The LRT Expansion and Renewal Branch is guided by the vision of Integrated Infrastructure Services (IIS) to inspire trust among citizens and Council in our commitment and ability to deliver quality infrastructure. Reporting to the Valley Line Director the Valley Line LRT Integration Manager is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring the seamless planning execution and delivery of complex technical integration scopes within multiple cross-functional workstreams. As the Integration Manager you will lead integration efforts across various technical and commercial workstreams to realize the vision of a fully functioning light rail transit system. You will navigate the complexities of integrating new infrastructure with existing systems balancing technical feasibility with business objectives in a dynamic environment. This position is integral to the successful delivery of the Valley Line LRT directly impacting its overall outcome and success.

What will you do:

  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams in the strategic planning and implementation of the integration of Valley Line Southeast and West LRT systems.
  • Participate as a key member of the Valley Line Project Management Oversight (PMO) Committee providing expert advice on technical integration and commercial matters
  • Develop and maintain integrated program plans roadmaps and schedules identifying critical paths managing interdependencies and mitigating risks
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among diverse workstreams including the Valley Line Southeast and West projects Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) supply and operations and maintenance contracts
  • Oversee the overall Valley Line safety certification program ensuring a safe and seamless transition to the long-term operator
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including City Council contractors consultants and regulatory agencies
  • Monitor and report on integration scope performance ensuring accountability and transparency through robust program governance
  • Lead and supervise a team including an Engineering Program Manager providing performance management coaching and support for recruitment and training
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering with a focus in civil electrical or systems engineering
  • Must be a Professional Engineer () in good standing and registered with APEGA. Applicants in a different Canadian jurisdiction eligible for Inter-Provincial Mobility (IPMA) with APEGA may be considered. Registration with APEGA must be obtained prior to the commencement of employment
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible engineering and project management experience in delivering Transit or LRT projects
  • Comprehensive understanding of LRT Systems Engineering including train routing control systems communication networks power systems traffic signals and working experience with testing and commissioning of LRT projects
  • Demonstrated experience working with multi-disciplinary teams in the delivery of complex projects

Skills required for success:

  • Strong technical understanding of LRT system delivery and brownfield system integration
  • Expertise in project management methodologies and best practices (PMBOK)
  • Demonstrated experience in contract development procurement and administration with a strong ability to assess and mitigate contractual risks
  • Excellent conflict resolution and negotiation skills to address complex and sensitive issues
  • Proven ability to build collaborative partnerships with external agencies government the business community and internal stakeholders
  • Ability to analyze complex technical information to make timely and effective decisions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience in report writing and delivering presentations to senior management and City Council
