Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Teaching Learning and Research Support the Library Assistant will provide support across three key areas: Teaching Learning and Research Support (TLRS); Collections Systems and Services (CSS); and Special Collections & College Archives. This position offers graduate students pursuing their MLIS degree an opportunity to gain professional experience through hands-on learning including project work digital material creation and collection processing.
Job Duties
- 50% - Assist in creating digital learning objects to enhance information literacy instruction within the Teaching Learning and Research Support (TLRS) area. Observe librarians and contribute to lesson planning and classroom instruction. Assist in identifying collection development strategies that align with faculty needs. - (Essential)
- 35% - Support Special Collections instruction by retrieving and handling materials as well as assisting with the processing of archival collections. - (Essential)
- 15% - Assist the acquisitions interlibrary loan and cataloging specialists in their respective functions. - (Essential)
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in library arts education communication or related fields and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Enrollment in an MLIS program and completed a minimum of one cataloging course.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word Excel PowerPoint) Google drives/folders/forms Adobe Acrobat Web Editing and social media applications or any combination of productivity programs applicable to position responsibilities.
- Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and thorough; skilled at anticipating and preventing potential problems and handling a wide variety of tasks with efficiency and accuracy.
- Strong commitment to a quality work product.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally in writing and electronically.
- Effective interpersonal skills as evidenced in the ability to collaborate with a variety of constituencies.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an academic or research library.
EXPECTED HIRING RANGE: $22.00/hr-$25.00/hr
