Job Summary
The Emergency Medical Services Liaison in collaboration with ER leadership coordinates communication events feedback sharing and education with local EMS providers. The EMS Liaison may also assist with educational needs in the emergency department as time and schedule allow.
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct regular Audit and Review (A&R) sessions with local EMS affiliates.
- Maintain interdepartmental relationships and communication with EMS affiliates working to provide positive and constructive feedback and assisting with implementation of identified process improvements.
- Extract and submit data to state trauma registry as required.
- Coordinate efforts between local EMS and Riverview Health to provide timely and comprehensive care to patients experiencing a STEMI or similar cardiac emergency.
- Collaborate with ED leadership on quality improvement initiatives.
- Develop short-term continuing education goals and make recommendations to the affiliated EMS Directors.
- Assist EMS Directors with the planning development implementation and evaluation of long-term education goals and objectives.
- Teach classes for affiliated departments as needed and especially when Riverview has mandated the course to maintain affiliation.
- Maintain accurate and current records of classes taught or coordinated in compliance with the Indiana State EMS Commission and Indiana Department of Homeland Security rules and regulations as well as Riverview Health.
- Solicit input from ED staff and physicians as well as EMS Directors on educational needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements
- Minimum: Associates degree in Paramedic Science from an accredited school and completion of an EMS Instructor course.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum: Seven (7) years pre-hospital care experience and two (2) years EMS teaching experience and Emergency Department Experience with Clinical Education Experience
- Preferred: Management/Supervisory Experience with Preparation of Budget
License/Certification Requirements
American Heart Association certifications in:
- BLS / BLS Instructor
- ACLS / ACLS Instructor
- PALS / PALS Instructor
- PHTLS Preferred
- Current ParamedicEMT-P licensevalid to practice in the state of Indiana
