About the role:
SydPath is a fully accredited NATA/RCPA registered facility offering a comprehensive range of pathology services in the disciplines of Haematology Chemical Pathology Clinical Pharmacology Microbiology Immunopathology/HIV Molecular Pathology and Anatomical Pathology.
The Director of SydPath provides a systematic and integrated approach to assurance and review of clinical responsibility and accountability that continually improves quality and safety of services provided to patients resulting in optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
The Director of Pathology is responsible and accountable for the clinical governance of SydPath pathology services. This includes strategic and operational leadership overarching supervision of all service functions and systematic risk management of all operations.
Ultimately this role is responsible to continually improve quality and safety of pathology services provided to the patients resulting in optimal patient outcomes.
This role is responsible for meeting the professional accountability responsibilities as the full time on site Designated Person for SydPaths Laboratories as required by the National Pathology Accreditation Advisory Council (NPAAC) supervision requirements.

Selection Criteria:
Full medical registration with Australian Medical Board (or eligibility for full registration)
Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia
Sound and proven leadership qualities and a capacity for Executive Administrative responsibilities including financial responsibilities particularly in a Pathology setting
High level of clinical competence knowledge of future advances in Pathology
Vision and commitment to research teaching and academic leadership in Pathology
Willingness to be an Approved Pathology practitioner and hold a current APP undertaking under section 23DC of the Health Insurance Act 1973 (Cth)
An interest in maintaining a fractional reporting load.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a history to building positive culture change to advance an organisation.
