TITLE: KG DEPARTMENT COORDINATOR
REPORTS TO: KG PRINCIPALS
Primary Function:
The KG Department Coordinator provides guidance and leadership within the department as well as providing ease of communication and organization of all departmental programs and activities. The objective of this office is to assist the department principals and teaching staff to meet all goals and must possess strong communication and knowledge of all department activities.
Overall Responsibilities:
Vision and Leadership
- Collaborate with the administrators to set and implement new initiatives regarding curriculum events programs and professional development.
- Collaborate with teachers in routine maintenance effective delivery and assessment of current curriculum and resources.
- Collaborate with the administrators in setting the direction for professional development of teachers.
- Collaborate with the administrators Heads of Department and teachers to improve the current curriculum student learning goals student assessment and evaluation.
- Coordinate with the Principals and HODs to manage the department budget and annual purchase of resources.
- Play an active leadership role during the Pre-Service period to ensure that all staff and facilities are full prepared for the Open House and arrival of students for the first day of school.
- Attend administrator meetings as needed. Deliver presentations as needed regarding: PD committee events teacher training and curriculum.
- Attend all committee and grade level meetings and provide feedback or guidance as needed. Oversee implementation of policies and procedures.
Interpersonal Relationships and Communication
- Effectively work with and motivate HODs and teachers to complete tasks.
- Use strong social skills to work in group settings.
- Effectively initiate and maintain two-way communication between administrators and teachers.
- Ensure that department documentation either as hard copy or web-based materials are current and easily available.
- Oversee induction and training of all new hired staff in conjunction with principals and HODs.
Organizational Management
- Oversee storage distribution and proper use of department teaching resources.
- Collaborate with principals to create all calendars duty schedules handbooks and agendas as needed.
- Play an active role in helping to implement the school improvement plan.
Professional Development
- Demonstrate a commitment to improve skills and that of teaching staff.
- Collaborate with principals on design and delivery of professional development workshops/ days.
- Collaborate with principals to lead and organize professional development sessions monthly.
Teacher Observation and Evaluation:
- Monitor assessment schedules and attend grade level meetings to ensure that assessment procedures are adhered to and that all results correctly uploaded to PowerTeacher.
- Confirm all PowerTeacher reports are done correctly and uploaded.
- Collaborate with Principals to ensure all teaching staff are provided training needed to achieve tasks.
- Arrange for teacher training in conjunction with Principal and PD coordinator.
- Collaborate with faculty on performance objectives.
- Conduct walk-thru observations on a regular basis report any concerns or praise to principals.
- Assist principals with annual formal evaluations of teaching staff as needed.
Performance Evaluation: Ongoing informal evaluation and annual formal evaluation by Principal.
