Job Description

Homestead Village is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse. Nurses with exceptional skills a passion for serving older adults and excitement for leading a team of LPNs & caregivers would be a great fit for this position. Our full time nurses enjoy a schedule that allows for great work/life balance! Every third weekend requirement.

The ideal RN for this position has experience (especially in geriatrics) loves being a nurse is compassionate caring detail oriented enjoys learning as well as teaching is a team player is willing to jump in to help wherever needed and wants to be a true nurse leader. Homestead Village is a midsized retirement community with a small skilled nursing unit. Our size is just one thing that makes us special. Our exclusive Night Shift RN Program works like this:

  • Week 1: Work 2 twelve hour shifts
  • Week 2: Work 3 twelve hour shifts
  • Plus you would only have to work every 3rd weekend!
  • $7000 Sign-On Bonus

Location:

  • 58 bed - Skilled Nursing Facility

Base Pay:Determined based upon years licensed and experience. RNs with less than 1 year experience start at $36.50; plus applicable differential which is $7.50!

Qualifications:

  • Currently licensed in the Commonwealth of PA as a Registered Nurse
  • 1-3 years of dementia experience preferred
  • 1-3 years of Leadership & Supervisory Skills preferred
  • CPR Certified

Responsibilities:The following is an overview of the responsibilities of the position and should not be considered all inclusive:

  1. Provide and direct resident care in accordance with SNF/ICF guidelines HSS-132 Nursing Home Rules and Regulations Resident Bill of Rights Nursing Services Policies and Procedures and the Homestead Village Employee Policy Handbook.
  2. Observe assess and report changes in residents condition to immediate supervisor attending physician family or designated contact person.
  3. Call or accept verbal orders from residents physician and transcribe them according to procedures and policies. Orders are to be transcribed timely and accurately.
  4. Actively coach caregivers to ensure outstanding resident care; utilize coaching supervision training and techniques.
  5. Communicates readily with all team members and nurse leaders.
  6. When necessary administer drugs and transfer treatment supplies from Med room to resident rooms according to physician orders. Document appropriately and report any drug and/or treatment errors to supervisor and physician.
  7. Serve as role model in the implementation of Homestead Village policy and OSHA standard on Universal precautions ensuring staff compliance and follow-up with required retraining and disciplinary action
  8. Documents in resident charts and maintains clinical records in prescribed manner.
  9. Reports staff and/or resident concerns/abuse immediately to supervisor.
  10. Completes incident reports in their entirety as accurately and timely as possible.
  11. Operate equipment required for resident care and provide lifesaving care i.e.: suctioning etc.
  12. Assist physician during examination and/or treatment of residents; review orders with physician suggest changes based on residents condition.
  13. Participate in the development of policies and procedures to improve nursing care programs.
  14. Assist in training supervising counseling and evaluating assigned staff. Replace absent staff when needed.
  15. Attend scheduled meetings continuing education programs and mandatory in-services as an active participant of Nursing team to keep abreast of current trends in medical science with special emphasis in gerontology.
  16. Maintain and safeguard entrusted confidential information.
  17. Adjust assignments and schedules to best meet needs of residents with appropriate personnel.
  18. Pass along pertinent information needed for 24-hour report.
  19. Must be knowledgeable of emergency procedures in the event of a fire tornado bomb etc. and able to carry through the correct procedure should an emergent situation arise.
