About the Role

Yarra City Council is seeking a skilled and motivatedMulti-Skilled Operator/Labourerto join ourRoad Services Unit. This role plays a vital part in maintaining the condition and appearance of Councils assets and infrastructure across the municipality.

You will be responsible for operating heavy machinery and supporting a wide range of civil construction and road maintenance activities. The role requires a strong understanding of road maintenance procedures and a commitment to safety quality and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

Civil Construction and Road Maintenance:

• Operate heavy machinery for tasks including excavation grading levelling material spreading compaction and site clean-up
• Assist with maintenance and repair of roads footpaths kerbs channels and drainage infrastructure
• Support concreting asphalting andbluestone works
• Respond to reactive maintenance requests and address safety hazards
• Maintain accurate records of work completed and equipment usage
• Assist with traffic management and site safety setups
• Ensure plant and equipment are secured at the end of each workday

Signage and Street Furniture Maintenance:

• Inspect and maintain street signage and furniture for safety and appearance
• Perform installation cleaning and repair works
• Identify and program areas for ongoing maintenance

Operational Duties:

• Complete daily plant inspection sheets and activity logs
• Report asset maintenance needs street cleansing issues or graffiti observed during duties
• Ensure compliance with Councils Road Management Plan response timeframe

What Were Looking For

• Proficiency in operating heavy machinery (e.g. excavators skid steers)
• Experience in civil construction including asphalt concrete and bluestone works
• Strong understanding of safety procedures and site protocols
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• HR licence and traffic management qualifications (preferred)
