Icon Water is responsible for owning and operating Canberras network of water and wastewater infrastructure and assets including dams reservoirs water and sewerage treatment plants water and sewerage pumping stations to ensure the delivery of safe drinking water and reliable sewerage services. Icon Water has been part of the Canberra community for 100 years.

With approximately 190000 customers in the Capital region we own and operate assets worth over $3.2 billion comprising the ACTs network of dams water treatment plants sewage treatment plants reservoirs water and sewage pumping stations mains and other related infrastructure.

About our Graduate Program

We are looking for curious-minded and innovative graduates to join Icon Water for an early 2026 start. We have opportunities in the following areas:

  • Mechanical Engineering (preferred)
  • Chemical / Process Engineering
  • Civil / Structural / Environmental Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Software Engineering (preferred)

Our two-year graduate program provides a fast-tracked career pathway into the Water Industry. You will be offered industry-specific training professional development and networking opportunities as you consolidate the theory youve learned and put it into practice.

As part of the four (4) x six (6) months rotation program you will spend a considerable amount of your time in functional areas with business experts giving you exposure to a variety of responsibilities and challenges.

We know that transitioning from student to professional life can be an adjustment for some. So we believe in aiding our graduates to connect with each other and build strong professional networks across our business.

As a network run by graduates for graduates you will get to take ownership of leading events that contribute to not only your career development and business knowledge but that of your fellow graduates too.

About you:

  • Have graduated in 2024 or will be graduating before the end of 2025 with a degree in:
  • Mechanical Engineering (preferred)
  • Chemical / Process Engineering
  • Civil / Structural / Environmental Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Software Engineering (preferred)
  • Have a safety-oriented mindset and are passionate about driving positive safety behaviour every single day
  • Nurture positive relationships but also have a strong sense of accountability and self-drive
  • Like exploring new technologies and discovering how to bring innovative ideas to life
  • Have an exceptionally analytical mindset and enjoy translating complex information into business insight
  • Have Australian working rights
  • Have a valid Australian drivers license (or ability to obtain one)
