Job Description
Early Childhood Assistant Teacher Full-Time Begins August 2025
The Episcopal Academy seeks a passionate and dedicated full-time Early Childhood Assistant Teacher to join our PK/K team for the 2025-2026 school year. This is an exceptional opportunity for a recent graduate with a degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education to begin their teaching career in a supportive and vibrant independent school community.
About the PositionAssistant Teachers at Episcopal work closely with experienced Lead Teachers who mentor and guide their professional the PK/K classrooms the assistant supports all aspects of teaching and learning-from leading small-group instruction in reading and math to helping manage the classroom environment and fostering a positive inclusive community for young learners.
Key Responsibilities
In the PK/K Classroom
- Collaborate daily with a Lead Teacher to support instruction classroom routines and student development.
- Work with small groups of students on foundational literacy and numeracy skills.
- Help plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons and activities.
- Engage actively in creating a warm safe and joyful classroom environment.
Afternoon Enrichment Program
- Under the guidance of the Assistant Head of Lower School design and lead engaging hands-on activities for Lower School students.
- Promote creativity collaboration and discovery during extended day hours.
- Ensure a nurturing and well-supervised environment for all participants.
Assistant Teachers are also encouraged to become involved in the wider life of the school including extracurricular activities and coaching.
About You
- You hold a BA in Early Childhood or Elementary Education.
- You have experience working with young children (student teaching or internships welcome).
- You bring enthusiasm flexibility and a collaborative spirit to your work.
- You are excited to learn from experienced educators and grow as a teacher.
