TITLE: Payroll Specialist Senior
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Prepare process balance and distribute payroll; maintain payroll records ensuring correct salaries are given and proper deductions are made.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education and/or experience equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED
- One (1) year of basic accounting bookkeeping and/or payroll experience on an automated system.
- State of Arizona Identity Verified (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Completion of District administered skills tests.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process payroll for all employees on automated system (Munis).
- Prepare checks and reports for all non-employee payroll vendors including federal state and local agencies and prepare and confirm deposit at Clearinghouse for direct deposits.
- Balance payroll reports and process and maintain all mandatory and voluntary deductions.
- Verify correct wage garnishment amounts; ensure checks reflect correct time worked reconcile data in automated time keeping software (Kronos) run interface to main payroll system and post payroll to the general ledger.
- Process new employees transfers FTE changes and termination data on system with correct assignments.
- Resolve payroll issues; assist employees with changes and questions.
- Prepare quarterly reports prepare and distributes W-2 Forms.
- Process time cards for employees and substitutes ensuring accuracy.
- Print checks; run multiple payroll reports; and complete wage verification forms for various agencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
- Knowledge of basic accounting and bookkeeping methods practices and procedures
- Knowledge of computer accounting software
- Knowledge of public relations/customer service methods and practices
- Knowledge of District federal and state rules and regulations related to payroll
- Skill maintaining accurate and timely data entry of all information into Human Resources/Payroll databases
- Skill utilizing computer databases to develop reports and payroll checks
- Skill utilizing customer service techniques in responding to inquiries and complaints
- Skill establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
