What are we looking for

ThePipeline Welding/Coatings Lead Inspector (CWI or CPWI and NACE or AMPP Certified) Temporary Full Timerole will consist of pipeline mainline/maintenance inspections.

Shift/Schedule: Tentative work schedule is five 10-hour days weekend availability may be required. Expected project duration is 6-7 weeks.

Salary & Benefits Information

The base hourly wage for this position is $63.00 - $68.00. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set experience qualifications and other job-related reasons. There is also per diem available for this project.

What youll do:

  • Monitor the execution of welding work in progress and completed to ensure that it complies with the applicable codes standards and specific job requirements
  • Perform inspections to applicable procedures and processes
  • Conduct audits and surveillance of suppliers and organizations providing materials or services to the project
  • Ensure the work performed and associated records are maintained and conform to the requirements of the applicable standards or other contract documents
  • Inspection personnel should be familiar with nondestructive examination fundamentals techniques and applicability including:
    • Radiographic examination
    • Liquid penetrant examination
    • Magnetic Particle examination (Yoke and Prod techniques)
    • Visual examination
    • Leak testing/Hydro testing
    • Ultrasonic thickness measurement
  • Inspection personnel should also be familiar with Destructive Testing fundamentals techniques and applicability including groove welds fillet welds stud welds and weld ability testing.
  • Validate proper ambient conditions are met during blasting / coatings operations.
  • Visually inspect pipe for noticeable defects to pipe coating.
  • Visually inspect pipe for gouges dents or other imperfections.
  • Verify that all pipe is jeeped and holidays properly repaired prior to lowering in trench.
  • Once cured verify that all field applied pipe coating meets Companys mil thickness and manufacturers hardness specifications.
  • Ensure testing and measuring equipment is fully calibrated per specification and has current certification

What it takes to be successful in this role:

  • Current CWI CPWI or API 1169 certification is required
  • NACE / AMPP certification is required
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the utility or pipeline industry
  • Must be able to walk long distances
  • Must be able to climb stoop kneel crouch and crawl
  • Must be able to stand for extended durations
  • Must be able to reach in all directions
  • Must have good visual acuity with regards to color depth perception and field vision
  • Must be able to work in various weather conditions including extreme heat and cold temperatures
  • Must be alert and able to determine job related hazards and recognize when hazards change
  • Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally
  • Must be able to work well in a team environment and clearly and professionally communicate with other team members
  • Valid drivers license and reliable driving record is required
  • Familiar with NACE and API 1104 code
  • Able to read and interpret construction drawings
