The Water and Environmental Analysis Laboratory (WEAL) in the College of Natural Resources provides meaningful practical and positive educational and professional experiences for students pursuing careers in natural resources and the sciences. Founded in 1972 the WEAL is a DNR and DATCP certified facility that serves Wisconsin citizens trains students to become future water quality professionals and conducts water quality research.
Completion of introductory chemistry coursework and laboratory skills are a plus. The position involves the preparation and analysis of water samples for determination of quality.
Duties include:
Students work with laboratory staff to analyze water samples submitted by private well owners lake management groups and students can earn internship credit in Water 381. Work-study is preferred; however all qualified applicants will be considered. Ideally students will have at least two semesters left and be available to work over winterim and summer breaks. The more time a student works in the lab the more opportunities they will have for skill development.
To be considered for employment during the semester your schedule should include at a minimum:
Two four-hour shifts per week OR
Three three-hour shifts per week OR
At least ten hours per week
Students are eligible to work up to 25 hours per week during the semester and 40 hours per week over breaks.
