Job Description

Programmed Energy & Resourcesare currently seeking a full-timeWelding Superintendent Mobile Maintenanceto join our team.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Welding Superintendent to provide technical oversight strategic support and leadership across the mobile maintenance team specifically focusing on structural and weld repairs for heavy mobile equipment fleet. The ideal candidate will bring strong trade or engineering background field leadership experience and extensive knowledge of welding practices for large-scale mining assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee structural/weld repair scopes across the mobile fleet ensuring compliance with site standards OEM specs and safety expectations.
  • Collaborate with Mobile Maintenance and Engineering teams to drive best practice welding solutions for mobile plant reliability.
  • Coordinate and supervise boilermakers and welding crews contractors and third-party vendors as needed.
  • Conduct inspections provide repair scopes and write detailed weld repair reports.
  • Travel to various sites to assess and manage critical repairs or asset strategies.
  • Champion continuous improvement and assist in developing welding standards and procedures.

Key Equipment Exposure (Desirable)

  • Experience in structural repairs or welding on the following machines is strongly desired:
  • Digger/Excavator Fleet: Hitachi EX3600 / EX2500 CAT 660/690/640 Komatsu PC5500 / PC300
  • Dozers: CAT D10 D11 (Track); CAT 834K 854K (Wheel)
  • Loaders: Komatsu WA1200 / WA900 LeTourneau L1850 / L2350 CAT 992 / 994 / 998
  • Graders: CAT 16M / 18M / 24M
  • Haul Trucks: Komatsu 830E / 930E CAT 798 (Autonomous AHS and manned units)

Candidate Profile

  • Trade-qualified boilermaker/welder with minimum 5 years post-trade experience OR degree-qualified mechanical/structural engineer with heavy welding and mobile fleet exposure
  • Cert 10 in Welding preferred but open to relevant certs and advanced welding quals
  • Demonstrated experience leading or supervising boilermaking or structural repair teams in a mining or heavy industrial setting
  • Strong understanding of heavy mobile fleet fabrication fatigue cracking structural inspections and repair strategies
  • Sound knowledge of site safety protocols and Australian welding standards

  • Collaborative hands-on leader who can guide teams while managing repair strategy and standards
  • Willingness to travel and support multiple site locations
