Job Description

Plans and administers the volunteer programs designed to supplement the services provided by the Medical Center Staff. Works in partnership with Medical Center Staff in developing implementing and interpreting programs and policies related to volunteer/staff relations volunteer training/development and safety issues. Functions as a consultant to all CMMC staff who are in the role of a volunteer supervisor in resolving issues involving volunteer activity. Actively supports the Medical Centers/Departments Continuous Quality Improvement and Customer Service goals through the modeling of appropriate behavior and by providing a work environment conducive to attaining these goals.

  • Greets and interacts with volunteers and visitors to the Volunteer Office. Fields telephone inquiries and screens potential volunteers. Schedules appointments for staff.

  • Processes applications and enters maintains and manipulates demographic data for volunteers using computerized database system.

  • Confers with Medical Center staff members to develop volunteer programs designed to meet the Medical Centers volunteer needs.

  • Coordinates selection placement and evaluation of volunteers with supervisory staff ensuring compliance with all Medical Center/Volunteer Department policies and other legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Conducts individual interviews. Ensures compliance with relevant county state and federal laws.
  • Participates in the development of goals policies and procedures and standards for Volunteer Resources. Assists with the implementation of policies that will bring volunteers into compliance with OSHA and other relevant regulations. Implements and interprets Medical Center and Department policy for volunteers.
  • Participates in recruitment efforts and retention strategies necessary to provide an adequate flow of volunteer candidates. Presents informational sessions for interested volunteer candidates in selected programs. May involve other community agencies whose emphasis is children and adolescents to present their volunteer needs at some informational sessions.
  • Plans and coordinates appropriate orientation programs. Assists supervising staff in planning formal training for new volunteers. Attends and assists with planning of in-service training conducted by supervisory staff.
  • Acts as a consultant and resource to supervisors of volunteers in assisting them to learn supervisory skills and techniques. Intervenes in problem situation at the request of supervisors of volunteers. Facilitates conflict resolution. Surveys and meets with supervising staff to devise methods of improving modifying or expanding volunteer services.
  • Represents Medical Center and Volunteer Resources in community meetings professional organizations and various recruitment sources regarding volunteer programs. Presents to organizations corporations and community groups.
  • Participates in the budget preparation and control process for the department by providing expenditure estimates and assisting in cost containment efforts. Prepares check requests purchase orders and supply requisitions. Follows up on payment of invoices.
  • Compiles statistical data and assists in maintaining Volunteer Resources database records.
  • Prepares appropriate correspondence/documentation regarding volunteer attendance records health maintenance training checklists and special volunteer recognition. Writes letters of recommendation for qualified volunteers. Maintains stock of departmental forms. Orders office supplies volunteer uniforms recognition pins and other necessary departmental materials.
  • Maintains appropriate level of professional competence by keeping informed regarding volunteer administration and legal issues through reading and attending seminars/workshops. Participates in planning process for National Volunteer week and assists with special department projects as needed. Participates in various Medical Center committees.
  • Performs job functions adhering to service principles with customer service focus of innovation service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients families co-workers and others.
  • Other job functions as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelors degree in Business Behavioral Sciences or related field required.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in Volunteer Administration Human Resources or a comparable field.
  • Knowledge of volunteer program management is strongly recommended along with a Supervisory and volunteer experience is preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with Medical Center staff to assess volunteer needs.
  • Ability to interview volunteer candidates to appropriately match skills and interests to Medical Centers needs. Ability to plan and conduct orientations in-services and presentations to community groups.
  • Strong professional writing skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

$54600.00-$89273.60 Salary

The pay range for this job indicates minimum and maximum targets for the position.
