Position Summary:
The Teaching Artist (Theatre) position is responsible for planning and leading classes that support COCAs educational curriculum in theatre. The classes serve students ages 4-adult. Applicants who seek to teach a more narrow range of ages or specific set of classes are welcome to apply.

- Provide high quality arts instruction for assigned classes and programs.
- Lead classes and programs by example and model professionalism to students through conduct attitude attendance and punctuality.
- Develop daily lesson plans that are age and contextually appropriate and connected to the approved curriculum.
- Maintain attendance sheets support program evaluations attend required meetings/ trainings and submit required documents in a timely manner.
- Fulfill number of hours/classes required in specific teaching agreement.
- Plan and establish a safe learning environment for all participants and artists.
- Arrive to classes fifteen (15) minutes prior to start time to begin at scheduled time.
- Document class progress successes and challenges throughout the semester including any concerns regarding lessons school/ facility issues and report to assigned COCA liaison.
- Check emails regularly and respond to communication efforts by COCA administrative staff within 48 hours.
- Log working hours into TriNet in a timely manner according to COCAs payroll schedule.
- Advise students on appropriate class placement through discussion with students and parents as well as placement letters.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and/ or Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in theatre and/or significant professional experience required.
- Commitment to teaching and providing continuity on a part time basis.
- Experience in classroom teaching or other forms of instruction.
- Experience and enthusiasm working in the arts.
- Experience working with diverse populations and a range of grade levels.

- Excellent oral written presentation and teaching skills required.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Ability to physically demonstrate and model the physical stamina and skills necessary for performing arts activities.
- Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand instruction.
- Ability to stand and circulate for extended periods of time.
- Ability to bend twist stoop kneel and reach in all directions.
