Are you an experienced Theatre Technician with strong leadership skills and exceptional organisational ability Aegis Health is looking for a Head Theatre Technician to lead and coordinate the daily operations of our perioperative this pivotal role youll ensure the smooth safe and efficient running of our theatre suiteproviding vital support to our clinical and surgical teams.

About the Role

As the Head Theatre Technician you will be a key leader in our operating theatre suite. Youll be responsible for the seamless management of all equipment consumables and supplies. Were looking for a leader who can not only manage our inventory and logistics but also mentor and train a team of Theatre Technicians Orderlies and Patient Care Assistants.

You will act as the technical expert for clinical staff and collaborate closely with the Perioperative Services Manager to drive continuous improvement and service excellence. Your expertise will be vital in maintaining our specialty services particularly in orthopaedics urology and pain management.

What Youll Be Doing

  • Overseeing the daily operations of the theatre suite ensuring equipment and supplies are always available and well-maintained.
  • Managing all aspects of procurement inventory and supplier relationships to prevent stock shortages and minimize waste.
  • Leading supervising and rostering the theatre technician and orderly team ensuring safe staffing levels and efficient workflows.
  • Providing hands-on technical support and acting as a primary resource for medical and clinical staff.
  • Leading the orientation training and professional development of new and junior staff.
  • Ensuring the theatre environment adheres to the highest standards of cleanliness sterility and safety.
  • Contributing to departmental planning problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.

Who We Are Looking For

  • A leader with a Cert III or higher in a health services course or equivalent training.
  • Substantial experience in a perioperative healthcare setting with a strong emphasis on orthopaedic specialties.
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership supervision and stock management.
  • In-depth knowledge of orthopaedic equipment and procedures.
  • Excellent organisational skills and basic IT proficiency.
  • A strong understanding of occupational health and safety principles.

Desirable

Prior experience in an acute setting with a focus on orthopaedic surgery.

Credentialing Requirements

  • Current eligibility to work in Australia.
  • Valid police clearance and Working with Children Check.
  • Successful identification check.
