Job Description

Job Summary: The Desk Clerk is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of a 105-unit building for low-income seniors in a bustling neighborhood. The position screens visitors and phone calls logs incidents responds to tenant requests and interacts extensively with a variety of people including staff tenants vendors contractors and law enforcement.

Status:On-call Nonexempt Temporary

Location:Chinatown neighborhood San Francisco

Hours:On-call as needed(may work holidays)

Salary:$21.64 - 22.77 per hour

The Organization:A private non-profit founded in 1977 Chinatown Community Development Center believes in a comprehensive vision of community. We own and/or manage approximately 38 affordable housing buildings serving over 5000 low-income seniors single adults formerly homeless adults and families of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds in San Franciscos Chinatown Tenderloin Western Addition and Polk Gulch neighborhoods. We also build housing develop grassroots leadership and engage low-income residents and youth. What You Will Do

  • Screen all visitors who enter and leave building
  • Update the visitor log daily log and other front desk forms
  • Screen incoming phone calls and route phone messages to staff
  • Maintain orderliness of the front entrance lobby and adjoining rooms/areas
  • Assist tenants with requests

Job Responsibilities:

  • Screen visitors update the visitor log daily log and other front desk forms
  • Screen phone calls and route phone messages
  • Report House Rules violations
  • Maintain orderliness of the front entrance lobby and adjoining rooms/areas
  • Report building emergencies and respond as directed or as needed
  • Assist tenants with requests
  • Post and distribute tenant notices
  • Write maintenance work order forms

  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Ability to work with people of diverse social economic and ethnic backgrounds
  • Sensitivity to issues facing Family homeless disabled and elderly populations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with security and/or reception work
  • Familiarity with Chinatown neighborhood
  • Familiarity with fire panels and emergency procedures
  • Bilingual in English and a Chinese dialect and Tagalog
