JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Secondary Supervisory Paraeducator
(NESTT supervision mental health classroom)

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School diploma or equivalent
2. Previous experience working with adolescents is preferred but not required
3. Post-secondary coursework in the educational field is preferred but not required
4. Skill in behavior management
5. Intuitive to the needs of the student
6. Ability to be flexible in the assignment given
7. Ability to use good judgment when unexpected problems arise

JOB GOAL:

Under the direction of certified staff assist in managing student behavior and mental health support in the NESTT in a positive manner work with students in a supportive role under conditions determined by the certified staff responsible for the students.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Any or all of the following duties may apply to a specific special education position depending on the needs of the students and the operation of the educational setting.

1. Supervise the NESTT (mental health classroom)

1. Help students navigate stress/anxiety and help students build coping skills.
2. Coordinate with staff to support students mental health.
   4. Work as a member of the supervisory team.
   5. Monitor student behavior and enforce rules in accordance with student/parent handbook and district and building policies.
   6. Maintain attendance records.
   7. Report to an administrator any significant problems encountered with students creating a disruption in the building.
   8. Conform to expectations within the negotiated agreement for Educational Associates.
   9. Other duties as assigned.
