The City of Sunnyvale Department of Library and Recreation Services is seeking 1-2 Assistant Recreation Coordinators to assist in the Administration Marketing & Events unit in activity newsletter production winter/spring activity guide production Sunset Movie Series (August) State of the City (September) and assist with outreach and marketing assignments.
Under general supervision from a Recreation Coordinator or Recreation Division professional staff assist in the planning organizing implementing and marketing of a recreation program and/or community service; provide technical staff assistance; and perform other duties as assigned.
Hours:Minimum of 480 hours with the ability to work up to 900 hours within a six month period. The selected candidate will work under the supervision on weekdays between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. with at least a 30-min unpaid lunch addition some evening/weekend hours are required for special events special assignments programs classes or activities.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Position requires prolonged sitting standing walking reaching twisting turning kneeling bending squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in using a computer keyboard. Additionally the position requires near and far vision in reading reports and work-related documents and using a computer. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal customer service. The need to lift drag and push files paper books and documents weighing up to 50 pounds is also required. Some duties require incumbents to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
When assigned to aquatics work is performed in an outdoor aquatics environment. Must be able to hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment including in the water and anywhere around the zone of responsibility. Remain alert with no lapses of attention. See and observe all sections of an assigned zone or area of responsibility. Ability to sit for long periods at a time is required and the ability to hold breath under water when necessary.

The minimum qualifications for education and experience can be met in the following way:
An Associates degree or have completed 60 semester or 90 quarter units at an accredited college or university with coursework in recreation/leisure arts administration hospitality management human services public administration business administration or a related field; ANDFor positions in Aquatics:
