The University of Ottawa Refugee Hub works at the intersection of research policy and programming to champion and design protection solutions for refugees. Our unique Knowledge Team based at the University of Ottawa ensures that the organizations policy and programmatic work is fully informed by world-class knowledge generation. This includes substantive research and knowledge creation and translation with a focus on refugee sponsorship resettlement and complementary pathways.

In addition to a wide range of direct support to key stakeholders our current flagship partnerships include:

  • The Global Refugee Sponsorship Initiative (GRSI)

  • The Third Country Solutions Identification and Referral Network

  • EU-PASSWORLD

  • Resettlement Plus

About the role What will you do

We are seeking four students to join us as Policy Assistants for the 2025/2026 academic year. Under the supervision of the Principal Analyst you will play a key role in supporting the University of Ottawa Refugee Hubs Knowledge Team.

Your responsibilities will include:

If this is a front-line position with responsibilities to interact with students selected candidates must be rated at the Low Advanced proficiency level or higher for both oral comprehension and reading comprehension in their second official language. The rating is determined by a proficiency test designed by the Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute.

Prior to May 1 2022 the University required all students faculty staff and visitors (including contractors) to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 as defined in Policy 129 Covid-19 Vaccination. This policy was suspended effective May 1 2022 but may be reinstated at any point in the future depending on public health guidelines and the recommendations of experts.
