This is a paid temporary position limited to a maximum of 9 months from the date of hire.In addition to being a fantastic place to work CDOT offers all temporary employees paid sick leave. Temporary employees accrue one hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked capped at 48 hours.
This position is not covered by the Partnership Agreement between the State of Colorado and Colorado Workers for Innovative and New Solutions (COWins).

About the Unit
The temporary archaeologist works in the Colorado Department of Transportations (CDOTs) Division of Transportation Developments Environmental Programs Branch (EPB). The Environmental Branch is responsible for ensuring that CDOTs planning construction permitting and maintenance activities comply with all local state and federal laws and regulations executive orders interagency agreements and CDOT policies that mandate the protection and enhancement of the human and natural environment.
The branch ensures that all projects are evaluated planned cleared and managed as efficiently as possible and that it provides a high quality level involvement for all aspects of the environmental approval process.
About the Position
The Temporary Archaeologist provides support to the Senior Archaeologist by assisting with tasks related to cultural resources regulatory compliance for project delivery statewide. These tasks include but are not limited to conducting archaeological field surveys documenting archaeological resources and preparing survey reports and associated materials. With oversight from the Senior Archaeologist the position is responsible for assisting with facilitating compliance with state and federal historic preservation laws including the Colorado Historic Register Act and Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) This position provides support to all of CDOTs five regions statewide.

Employment Screening
