Gender Equality Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) Manager Humanitarian Logistics Capability (HLC)

Location: Ideally Brisbane but flexible across Australia Full-time 2 year fixed term contract

The Opportunity

The Gender Equality Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) Manager will lead the integration of GEDSI principles across all aspects of the Humanitarian Logistics Capability (HLC) program. Based in Brisbane you will ensure that humanitarian emergency relief supplies and logistics services are appropriate for women girls people with disabilities and other diverse groups.

Youll work closely with DFAT technical experts and local partners to embed inclusive practices strengthen community engagement and promote continuous improvement in GEDSI outcomes. This is a unique opportunity to shape how Australias humanitarian response is delivered ensuring it is inclusive responsive and transformative.

About the Program: Humanitarian Logistics Capability (HLC)

The HLC managed by DFAT and implemented by Tetra Tech facilitates the timely effective and flexible delivery of Australias humanitarian assistance across the Indo-Pacific. With the largest stockpile of prepositioned humanitarian supplies in the Southern Hemisphere HLC can respond to three simultaneous crises and support over 55000 people.

HLC integrates cross-cutting priorities including GEDSI localisation greening innovation and Indigenous engagement into all operations and activities.

Your Role

  • Lead the development and implementation of the HLC GEDSI Strategy and annual GEDSI Plan
  • Conduct GEDSI analysis of supply chains and country contexts to inform inclusive programming
  • Train staff in GEDSI principles and practices
  • Review and improve the appropriateness of pre-positioned supplies
  • Provide GEDSI advice during preparedness and response operations
  • Collaborate with DFAT humanitarian partners and rights-holder organisations
  • Support MERL initiatives to strengthen GEDSI outcomes and last-mile visibility
  • Manage GEDSI components of service orders and logistics operations
  • Engage external GEDSI specialists and lead cross-functional teams
  • Establish partnerships with Womens Rights Groups and Organisations of People with Disabilities.

About You

You are an experienced GEDSI practitioner with a strong understanding of humanitarian logistics and inclusive development with the prior experience to match. You thrive in complex environments and bring a collaborative culturally competent and solutions-focused approach.

You will possess:

  • Mid-senior experience in inclusive and GEDSI-transformative programming
  • Experience in humanitarian or development programs in the Indo-Pacific
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage external consultants
  • Strong knowledge of GEDSI principles policy and participatory approaches
  • Understanding of Australias International Gender Equality and Disability Strategies
  • Excellent project management communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • High levels of initiative resilience and cultural competence
  • Relevant lived experience will be highly regarded.
