Job Description
Provide overall leadership and direction to all plant personnel and outside personnel to maximize the value of the generation asset. Instill a culture consistence with Talen Energy values that empowers employees to excel and be their very best. Drive safe reliable and cost-effective performance to achieve corporate objectives and to maximize the profitability of the generating asset. Develop and implement company and business unit Operational Excellence initiatives as a member of the Talen PJM leadership team.
Essential Functions
- Provide leadership supervision and direction to the plant This includes day to day supervision individual coaching /development goal setting and performance management.
- Lead develop and implement long-term business and operation strategies for the plant which meet departmental and corporate goals.
- Manage the safety environmental and NERC compliance activities at the plant to achieve corporate objectives in these areas.
- Coordinate generation scheduling with Talen Marketing to derive maximum profitability for the station.
- Manage the overall operation and maintenance aspects of the pant in an efficient cost-effective manner. Ensure operating standards are met or exceeded and that all required maintenance activities are completed in a cost effective and timely manner.
- Develop and manage the plants Operations and Maintenance budget and plant inventory. Identify & justify future capital projects that enhance bottom-line financial and operational performance. Provide contract administration for labor services and materials.
- Ensure all aspects of the Collective Bargaining agreement are followed.
- Establish expectations and implement timely/complete communications to all plant personnel to provide information and increase understanding of plant performance; safety environmental and financial performance; long-term strategies and initiatives; Corporate and department policies etc.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of power generation or equivalent experience in operation and maintenance of plant mechanical electrical equipment and control systems.
- BS degree or equivalent experience.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Proven ability to lead people and coach for continuous improvement
- Working knowledge of finance and accounting principles.
- Working knowledge of government regulations including but not limited to OSHA EPA DEP and NERC.
