Lung Foundation Australia is seeking a visionary Non-Executive Director to join our Board. If you are passionate about making a difference and have the skills to lead we want to hear from you!

About Us:

Lung Foundation Australia is an award-winning profit-for-purpose organisation and the Department of Health Disability and Ageing appointed health peak and advisory body. We are Australias most trusted lung health disease and cancer charity dedicated to advocating for and supporting the one in six Australians at risk of or living with lung disease and cancer.

This opportunity arises following the retirement of a long-standing highly regarded Non-Executive Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure strong governance strategic oversight and leadership in alignment with LFAs mission and values.
  • Contribute to setting and reviewing the strategic direction of the organisation.
  • Monitor financial performance and ensure sustainable resource allocation.
  • Represent Lung Foundation Australia externally advocating for its mission and building relationships with key stakeholders.

Essential Skills & Experiences:

Our board is highly effective mature and stable. You will work with the Board in ensuring that our organisational strategy advocacy and service delivery remain aligned with the lived experience of people living with or at risk of lung disease or lung cancer.

In addition to the general board skills and experience requirements the Board is specifically seeking a senior executive with a strong background in information technology digital transformation or innovation leadership.

As an established C-suite leader you will bring deep expertise in shaping and overseeing technology and digital strategies with demonstrated experience leveraging technology and innovation to drive organisational growth improve operational efficiency and enhance stakeholder engagement.

Working with the Board you will assist in shaping our 5-year strategic plan specifically by Advising the Board and Executive on:

  • Developing implementing and evaluating the Foundations digital innovation and technology capability strategy. This includes ensuring our technology roadmap aligns with LFA goals and ensures scalability and efficiency.
  • New technologies and innovations that can give LFA competitive edge and maintains or stays ahead of technological trends and integrates cutting-edge solutions.
  • LFA digital capability policy practice to remain relevant with regulations and standards including cybersecurity measures to protect LFAs data and systems.
  • The information technology budget making strategic decisions about investments in new technologies and resources to support the LFAs Mission and growth.
  • Strategies that enhances the user experience ensuring that programs and services meet customer needs and expectations in a fast-paced dynamic environment.

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification in information technology computer science systems engineering or a related discipline.
  • Governance training or certification (e.g. AICD Company Directors Course) or the ability to undertake such training within one year of appointment

Your commitment:

This is a volunteer role that will require a commitment to attend board meetings six times per year face to face in full day or half day meetings in Brisbane Sydney or Melbourne. Other meetings may be scheduled sometimes. Travel expenses will be reimbursed.
