Job Description
This role is for a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) working 3 twelve-hour shifts per week (7 PM to 7:30 AM) in a medical-surgical unit within a Level 1 Trauma Center. The CNA will provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse assisting with activities of daily living collecting patient data and performing various clinical procedures. The position requires mandatory floating to other facilities within the same system as needed. Two years of recent acute care experience is required.
- Obtain and record vital signs weights and other patient data.
- Collect and process specimens (urine stool sputum).
- Assist with medication administration as directed by a registered nurse.
- Perform basic clinical procedures such as incentive spirometry pulse oximetry and blood sugar checks.
- Maintain and clean equipment.
- Assist in emergency situations.
- Document patient care accurately and completely.
- Answer phones direct calls and perform other clerical duties.
- Float to other facilities within the system as needed.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Minimum of two years of recent acute care experience in a medical-surgical setting.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Experience with vents/trachs/PICC lines.
- Every other weekend work requirement (2 weekends per month).
- Maximum of 5 days of requested time off (RTO) with no more than 2 consecutive days. No RTO on weekends holidays or the day before/after a holiday.
- Must live within 75 miles of the facility.
- Parking costs apply at the Juvenile Temporary Detention Center (JTDC). A shuttle is available.
- No block scheduling.
- Every other weekend rotation.
