Job Description
- Implementing Treatment Plans:PTAs carry out exercises manual therapy techniques and other therapeutic interventions as directed by the physical therapist.
- Assisting with Gait Training and Ambulation:
- Applying Physical Agents:PTAs may use heat packs ice packs or electrical stimulation as part of the treatment plan.
- Monitoring and Recording Progress:PTAs observe patients during treatment noting any changes in their condition and reporting back to the physical therapist.
- Educating Patients and Families:PTAs explain exercises proper techniques for activities of daily living and how to maintain progress at home.
- Maintaining Patient Records:PTAs document patient treatments progress and any relevant information.
- Preparing and Maintaining Equipment:PTAs ensure treatment areas are clean and organized and that equipment is in good working order.
- Communicating with the Physical Therapist:PTAs collaborate with the physical therapist to modify treatment plans as needed and ensure the best possible care for patients.
- Supervising Aides:PTAs may also supervise the work of physical therapy aides in some settings.
