Nestled in between the dramatic backdrop of rugged mountains and the pristine waters of the Sea of Oman Shangri-Las Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa is set on 124 acres of stunning scenery and home to three spectacular hotels: the family orientated Al Waha comprises 262 rooms the diverse Al Bandar comprises 198 deluxe rooms and the luxurious and most exclusive Al Husn has 180 elegantly appointed guestrooms and suites. The resort also features 22 Food and Beverage outlets 1056 sqm ballroom with 8 breakout rooms wide variety of recreational facilities and a spa with 12 treatment villas.
The Head Hostess leads the front-of-house host team ensuring a smooth efficient and hospitable experience for all guests from arrival to departure. She manages the reservation system coordinates seating arrangements and serves as the key liaison between guests staff and management. The Head Hostess plays a crucial role in upholding service standards handling VIP and special guest requests and mentoring junior hostesses to deliver exceptional service.
Greet guests with warmth and professionalism ensuring a lasting first impression.
Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the hostess team.
Train mentor and support new and existing hostesses to ensure service consistency and excellence.
Oversee and manage reservations walk-ins waitlists and table assignments using the reservation system.
Strategically plan seating arrangements to maximize table turnover while accommodating guest preferences and special requests.
Handle VIP guests and special occasions with attention to detail and discretion.
Address guest complaints or concerns promptly escalating to management when necessary.
Communicate clearly with the kitchen and service teams regarding guest needs large parties and special arrangements.
Monitor the dining room to ensure a smooth flow of service and guest satisfaction.
Maintain an organized and professional hostess station and entrance area.
Ensure hostess team maintains grooming standards and follows restaurant protocols.
Maintain detailed guest records including preferences allergies and feedback for future reference.
Compile and analyze guest volume and feedback reports for management review.
Support restaurant operations during peak hours events and promotional activities.
Assist in implementing service improvements and guest engagement initiatives.
Proven experience as a hostess with at least 12 years in a supervisory or lead role.
Strong customer service skills and a passion for hospitality.
Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
Proficiency in reservation and table management systems (e.g. OpenTable Resy SevenRooms).
Excellent organizational interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
Ability to remain composed and professional in a fast-paced environment.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to train and motivate a team.
Well-groomed appearance and positive attitude.
