What Youll Do
The Deputy Director within Production serves as a senior leader within one of the Production Value Stream Organizations that will assist the Value Stream Organization Production Director in the strategic and tactical operations to timely safely and securely deliver the Y-12 mission. This leader manages the work force equipment deliverable and matrix organizations for a defined set of Y-12 capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Aid in achieving established goals for production quantities product quality personnel safety and compliance within their assigned area of responsibility
- Contribute to setting performance expectations and monitoring performance of employees assigned to their work area including matrix personnel from Engineering Infrastructure ES&H Quality Site Integration Facilities Operations Management Security and other organizations
- Developing and maintaining an organization of competent and knowledgeable employees empowered to perform their specialized capability functions
- Leading a Value Stream Organization of cross functional teams tasked with reducing waste and maximizing value for customers while solving problems at the lowest level
- Sponsoring teams to achieve continuous improvements in all areas especially when equipment or business management processes are not functioning as desired
- Maintaining high standards for Conduct of Operations by utilizing operating procedures surveillances round sheets etc. to ensure safe and compliant equipment operation and material accountability as described in the Document Safety Analysis
- Fostering open communication with the bargaining unit and managing the production craft workers to support mission deliverables
- Resolving cost schedule or resource conflicts regarding mission deliverables within their span of control including overtime approval and monitoring
- Developing and maintaining relationships with Y-12 customers including Executive Leadership Team members Senior Directors NPO personnel NNSA counterparts Congressional Representatives and outside customers in order to understand and support evolving customer objectives

Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelors degree: Minimum 12 years of relevant experience with a minimum 5years of relevant supervisory/management experience
- In addition the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e. Baccalaureate in engineering or related scientific major and 4 years nuclear experience; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative)
Preferred Job Requirements
- Knowledge and understanding of Manufacturing Operations Conduct of Operations Integrated Safety Management Y-12 Safety Management Programs Engineering principles Quality requirements and Security requirements
- Knowledge of DOE Orders and state and federal laws pertaining to facility operations; complex building systems (structural mechanical electrical HVAC etc.) instrumentation and equipment; risk management; work planning and control; radioactive and/or hazardous materials; and event management and issue response
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office especially Word and PowerPoint
- Knowledgeable of Y-12 business and resources practices processes and policies needed to resolve issues and accomplish work is preferred
- Must be able to apply a comprehensive and advanced knowledge to the completion of complex assignments in the field of specialization and apply advanced technical principles theories and concepts
- Must be able to contribute to the development of new principles and concepts
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to interface with all levels of personnel and management within Y-12 and NNSA
- Must be able to work independently within a diverse organization
- Requires effective oral and written communication skills strong leadership skills and ability to facilitate accomplishment of objectives across organization boundaries
- Requires the ability to prioritize and manage competing and multiple priorities maintain flexibility and adapt to change
